Spring Break!!

Hey, everyone!

First of all, let me congratulate our dear Amy Mantis, the winner of the competition! As promised, she will be getting her own free and signed copies of both the CD and DVD of Project K-Paz once they are released! Also, Lucas, the second to answer, will get a free copy of the CD! Thanks to both for reading and for making the comments! Keep it up!

Now, the news!

Last week, we had Jon Hsu come and make videos of our jams here at Berklee! It's me on guitar and Pablo on Drums. Laurent is still in France, so we had a Matias Alvear, a friend, play the bass. Josh was recording in Pittsburg, so he couldn't make it either. Here is a little piece of the jam, fresh for the BLOG readers:

Let us know what you think of the footage, it is just a mockup, but a little taste of what's to come!

Now, this following week is our Spring Break, so we are out of town for a while, but the project is still moving. We have made progress in the DVD front after some great meetings with Jon while he was in Boston, and we're also just waiting to hear from Avatar to confirm our session booking.  But don't worry, we'll keep you posted.

Rock on!

Test Shooting at Berklee!

Hey, everyone!

This weekend, Jon Hsu is coming to Boston to make videos of us jamming and get some "test shots" and footage to start planning for the actual shooting of our DVD. Very exciting! Be on the lookout for the footage from these jams...we will post them here and on Youtube for sure!

On other news, there is a chance we may be getting funding from Berklee to help out with the project!! Kevin Johnson, from the Office of Cultural Diversity, showed a lot of interest in the project and recommended that we applied for a grant with the department. So we did and are waiting on a response very shortly! Let's all keep our fingers crossed, this could really help us a LOT!!

Also, I would like to add that a new addition has been made to the Project K-Paz tem: Jack Shenker! This very good friend of ours will be the person making all the interviews for the DVD, since he has one of the most fabulous accents ever (New Zealand, of course...), is one of the most intelligent guys we know, and an awesome sense of humor, which always helps! Welcome, Jack!

Well, today I'll be recording guitars for a soudalike Chris is producing of the song "Killing In The Name Of" by Rage Against The Machine, VERY intense, for those who know it, and tomorrow we'll have the "mock shooting", so this will be a very exciting weekend. Stay tuned for all the footage and material from that, and always for more updates!

Groove will guide us!

Great response!

Hey, everyone!

I realize the time between posts has already started to increase, but fear not, it will not always be like this! It just so happens that this was by far my most busy week in school EVER. I had to:

- Compose a 1 min cue for a short film, which I will have to conduct in a recording session next week
- Compose a 3 minute atonal piece for 2 violins
- Write a 3 page paper about a Harvard Case Study on Octone Records
- Compose and orchestrate a piece for a woodwinds
- Compose and orchestrate a piece for strings in 8 different possible orchestrations
- Learn 10 Prince songs on guitar for the Prince Ensemble rehearsal
- Go to 4 meetings to help with recruitment of Peer Advisors for the Fall
- Go to 3 meetings for the Music Business Club, regarding the National MEISA Conference that will be held at Berklee in 3 more weeks

And...as if that wasn't enough, I also started drafting the "script" for the DVD of Project K-Paz with Chris. It's just the basic outline of the shots we're going to have so we can edit with more focus after the shoot is done, but it's already exciting as hell to start thinking of the final product ready!

Speaking of which, I would like to shout out to everyone who has been giving us their support by making orders of the CD/DVD and making donations (you can do BOTH at www.projectkpaz.com under the "Support Us" Tab). It has been really inspiring and encouraging to see so many friends, family and also new listeners help out in making Project K-Paz happen. Every little bit counts, so if you want, go to the website and guarantee your copy! Or you can just stay in touch, keep on following the BLOG and commenting and buy it once it's out...but one way or the other, I promise you it will be worth it!

Rock on!

First Posting...on the Bolt Bus??

So...here we are...facing the difficult task (one of the most difficult in the online world...) of writing the very first post on a new Blog. Right now I am on my way to New York, aboard the Bolt Bus. I have to say, this whole free wi-fi during a 4 hour trip really comes in handy!

It's valentine's day...but that's not the main reason why I am going to NY. Like last weekend, the reason of this trip is to work out the nuts and bolts (got it?? Bolts!! Bolt Bus!!! haha) of Project K-Paz. Last week we visited Avatar Studios with some of the people who will help us with the photos and the shooting of the DVD to start thinking of the setup and preparation for the big day...April 11th! Check out this video of us scoping studio B out:

This time around I am going to meet with Fernando Lodeiro, the Engineer who will record and mix us, to talk about the musical aspect of the setup, the instrumentation, equipment, and some other boring details, hehe. But I am VERY excited about it...as usual. I guess that's one thing that has been a constant since we've started this project, every new step, every little inch we move forwad, just keeps on fueling me with this sense of fulfillment and joy that I hadn't felt in a long time...

Yeap, music will do that to ya...

Peace!
